All you need to know about Airbrush Makeup
Have you ever had airbrushed makeup applied? Did you enjoy the final product? Most don't know what it even is!
I get asked regularly to explain airbrushed makeup to all my pretty brides! Read along as we explain to you what the hype is all about, uncover the myths and help you decide if its the right path for you!
What is it?
Airbrush Makeup is described as " ...makeup sprayed onto the skin using an airbrush instead of being applied with sponges, brushes, fingers, or other methods. An airbrush is characterized by 3 major parts. A powered compressor is used to create an even and controllable airflow through a medical grade hose." We can thank Wikipedia for that definition!
Basically, it is face makeup that is sprayed onto the face through the power of an air compressor. I won't bore you with the different types of airbrushed makeup because that is just not what you're here for! I personally use Temptu Air Perfect and really love this brand! They have a wide range of shades and the machine is fairly easy to clean.
1. It feels lightweight!
If you really can't stand the feeling of makeup on your face, you might love this! Because of the way that it is applied, it feels fairly lightweight. It is so difficult to give a cakey coverage with airbrush makeup!
here's a tip:
If you don't want to wear makeup on your wedding day, just don't! It's your day girl, you do you!
2. It looks good for people
with good skin!
If you drink the right amount of water you're supposed to and eat all of your greens then you probably have great skin. Unless you were just blessed, if so then you're a lucky gal!! Airbrush makeup looks amazing on people like you! It sits beautifully well on balanced skin. With a few extra steps, you'll have a beautiful finish!
3. It is Often quicker!
The blend-ability with airbrush makeup is phenomenal. There is not much extra work from the artists stand point to blend this beautifully into the skin. You shouldn't have any worry of having a face that is 2 shades lighter than your body in photos! (We've all been there!!)
1. It will look good on everyone.
This is just a flat out lie; there are no products out there that are perfect for everyone! Everyone has different skin textures and types. Airbrush makeup is perfect for girls that don't have much skin texture. When there is texture present, often times the airbrush makeup will not have enough coverage in that area and will almost highlight the area! We NEVER want that! Plus, there is just no way to makeup airbrush makeup look great caked on. Applying too many thin layers will eventually defeat the purpose of the thin application.
2. It is waterproof!
Some airbrush makeup is, some is not! Just like all other makeup, it comes in a wide variety of different types. They do sell waterproof airbrush makeup, which comes with another whole slew of pros and cons, but it does not guarantee that your artist is using those types. When your artist is well-trained and professional, you have no reason to be worried about your makeup melting off your face in that summer heat.
3. It will last all day long.
Again, this plays into the skill of the artist, not the makeup. Airbrush makeup can last long but so can traditional makeup! It is seriously all about application and technique that can make makeup last all night long.
4. It will look flawless!
With the right makeup skills, you will look so beautiful!! The idea of a specific type of makeup making you look flawless is deceitful and just wrong in itself. Airbrush makeup can be so beautiful, but don't force it if it's not the right fit for you. I promise you, your makeup will still be rockin' and you will still be that happy little glowing bride at the end of the day!
At the end of the day...
I've definitely said the words "airbrush makeup" one too many times. But in all seriousness, it's up to you and your makeup artist!
Knowledge is power, so if you have read through this and feel like you might be the right fit for airbrush, give it a go! It might be the best option for you and your skin... or you might hate it!
Either way, I wish you the best of luck and I hope you LOVE your makeup for your wedding day!
