Hairstyles: Pinterest vs. Reality.
Let's be honest here, Pinterest has become the mother of all gallery-walls for wedding inspirations, home decor, plant life and makeup help. Pinterest can be so helpful in so many ways but it can also completely take over your life!!! You can type in some obscure crazy description and probably get something close to what you were thinking of, it's crazy and cool all at the same time, if you ask me.
When it comes to wedding hair, It's no surprise when someone pulls up a Pinterest picture! I'm sorry to break it to you but, here's the thing. Pinterest just is NOT reality. While it can be a great tool to help you decide what will be best for you, it can create seriously unrealistic expectations when it comes to choosing your hair for your special day! Let's break it down.
What hair texture do you have?
Not all hair types can create all styles. If you are looking for a super textured style but you have stick straight hair that "has never held a curl in your life." We might have some trouble with this, girl! We know that it is hard to hear but sometimes you just don't have the hair to create the style you're looking for and that is ok! It doesn't mean that you won't have beautiful wedding hair, it just means we will have to tweak it a little to be absolutely beautiful on you and your hair type!
How much of it do you have?!
This, is a big one! Often times you will see a beautiful, huge style done on a model on Pinterest. While these styles are beautiful and so popular for a reason, most of the time these girls have 5 pounds of extensions in their hair! They put them in for the photo-shoot, wear them for an hour or so for photos and take them out. Hair extensions can become very heavy and uncomfortable over time. I don't recommend them to brides all the time for this reason alone. The last thing that I want for you on your wedding day is to get a freaking headache from your hair extensions, that's just crazy talk!
What's the weather going to be like?
Sometimes, this is the deciding factor. If you are getting married in the dead of summer here in good ol' North Carolina, you probably won't want to wear your hair down and curly. If you're like me, you will look like you just stepped out of the shower in an hour! You should always consider the climate and type of wedding you will be having when choosing your hair! This can make or break your look long-term.
What kind of night do you want to have?
Do you want to be worrying about your hair all night? I don't know about you but I sure don't! I prefer to create effortless styles that will wear with you over time. This means wear with you while you are dancing, hugging, kissing and taking pictures. It has to look great from all angles and be beautiful in person and on camera. You will want a style that can check all of the boxes, not just one.
